Cost: €180 (1 set of 6 DVDs)

divergent-channelsAccording to the Spiritual Pivot of the Inner Canon (Huangdi Neijing Lingshu), the Divergent Channels (jing bie) are one of the most important channel systems that a practitioner of acupuncture needs to study in order to become an effective clinician.
Aside from the primary channels, these ”distinct” meridians connect with their associated Zang-Fu and as such, treat both functional and organic issues pertaining to the internal viscera-bowels. Yet unlike the primary channels, these “separate” meridians can access the yuan-constitutional level directly via the bones.
Thus their clinical applications supersede the primary channels in affecting issues pertaining to congenital, bio-genealogical, and personality disorders.
These channels are also among the most important for the treatment of immunological conditions, from auto-immune diseases to immuno-compromised illnesses.
This conference will expose participants to one of the least understood and known channels of acupuncture since the Song Dynasty.

Title: Cancer Care & Classical Chinese Medicine

Cost: €180 (1 set of 6 DVDs)

The top five cancers in Ireland (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) are:

  • Men: prostate, lung & bronchus, colorectal, bladder and stomach.
  • Women: breast, colorectal, lung & bronchus, ovary and lymphoma.

These are similar to statistical findings in other European countries and the United States.  Cancer has become a global problem. In 1975 for example, there was 5.9 million new cases worldwide this rose to 12 million new cases in 2007. If these trends continue,  Health officials predict that by 2030, 17 million people will die worldwide of cancer, and 75 million people will be living with the disease and require treatment and follow-up care. This will make cancer the leading cause of death in the world, claiming more lives than AIDS, TB and malaria combined. It is a crisis for public health and health systems worldwide.

In Chinese Medicine cancer is considered the manifestation of du- toxins, which evolved from different aspects of heat pathology. Over time, this pathological heat process consumes the vitality and essences of the body-mind-spirit continuum. Within Chinese medicine, many
strategies have evolved to deal effectively with these toxins and rectify the pathological process.

Collectively referred to as Fu-Zheng therapy, this seminar focuses on the aetiology, pathological process, and treatment strategies involving “cancer.” In addition, Master Yuen discusses how these approaches can be integrated into conventional and other alternative medical modalities.

During this weekend Daoist Master Jeffrey Yuen described the significant meanings, pathways (origins, convergences, sequences), and utilizations of the Yang and Yin Sinew channels (mobility, postural alignment, evaluation based onTong pain, protocols and differentiations).

Sinew channels are important pathways for conduction Wei Qi at the surface terrain to affect the skin, sinews, nerves, sensory organs and the lungs.

The sinew meridians are often associated with ashi/sensitive points and trigger points that manifest through the six zones of Tai Yang, Shao Yang, Yang Ming, Tai Yin, Shao Yin and Jue Yin. Sinew channels are based on the premise that if the exterior is strong, external pathogenic factors cannot invade and internal etiologies are given the opportunity to be released to the exterior.

The Sinew channels also express our moods and feelings somatically through the physical body. Most of us adopt postures unconsciously, unaware of what we are conveying. When we express feelings outwardly, we are activating the Yang Sinew channels, and when we suppress our feelings, we are using the Yin Sinew channels.

The sinew channels are also very important to practitioners of Toy Na, Shiatsu and Massage Therapists. These DVD’s provide you with the ability to access a system rarely used in TCM.

How emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, can provide us with an opportunity by which the body can have a cathartic purification of oneself. Emotions are also examined based on their physical implications, how they affect the directionality of the flow of energy in our body, the influence of our family and wider society and the levels of competency and responsibility that can be inferred by their evolution and dynamics.

The journeys of the saint, the alchemist, and the hero are discussed and Master Yuen also demonstrates how we can use the six healing sounds in order to harmonise our emotions.
